Masabi Appoints Owen Day as Director of Engineering

London, UK. 8th December, 2011 - Masabi, the developer of mobile ticketing technology for the transport sector, today announced the appointment of Owen Day as Director of Engineering. Owen will manage a team of software developers and will be responsible for building the team as the company continues its rapid growth.

Owen brings considerable experience to Masabi, including roles such as the Mobile Application Development Manager for the Tesco group. At Tesco he was responsible for building a world class mobile application and mobile web development team involved in the development of key product applications. This work included building the iPhone and Android Grocery and Club Card applications, the iPhone insurance application and the recipe/shopping applications for HTML 5 and the iPad.

Prior to Tesco, Owen was a consultant for Touchnote, a service that allows users to send physical postcards direct from their mobile phones, where he built Android applications for pre-install onto Sony Ericsson handsets. Owen was also a founding member of Cognima, the company behind ShoZu, a leading provider of mobile phone application software and Global Mobile Awards winner two years running. As Senior Development Manager and Architect, he led the development on both J2EE and J2ME platforms, recruiting multi-centred development teams in London, Bangalore and San Francisco.
