Masabi and Gertek Sign Partnership to Deliver Innovative Ticketing Services in Spain

First service already live as mobility solutions company joins growing list of Justride SDK partners that includes, Uber, Kisio Digital, Chalo and Transit App

London & Bilbao - September 25, 2018 - Masabi, the company bringing Software-as-a-Service ticketing and payments to public transport, today announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Gertek, the mobility solutions developer, to deliver innovative ticketing solutions to customers in Spain, with an exclusive agreement in the Basque region. Under terms of the agreement, Gertek has licensed the Justride SDK, enabling the company to build mobility apps that incorporate mobile ticketing. The first joint project from the two companies, with Lurraldebus, is already live with further deployments planned in the coming months.

Lurraldebus, the Spanish intercity public transport service with more than 250 buses operating in Gipuzkoa, launched mobile ticketing using the Justride SDK in July 2018. The ‘LurTicket’ system allows passengers to download an app onto their smartphones which can be used to purchase tickets and display them on-screen as a dynamic and encrypted barcode, which is scanned by the driver when boarding the bus. For passengers, it removes the hassle of having to carry cash or waiting in line, and supports Spanish, English and Euskera, making buying a ticket simple for both locals and tourists.

“At Masabi our goal has always been to make taking public transport as quick and easy as possible. The Justride SDK is a key component of this, enabling mobility partners to launch mobile ticketing services or add this functionality into existing apps,” said Brian Zanghi CEO of Masabi. “We are delighted to be adding Gertek to our growing list of partners, and to have worked with them on our first launch in Spain. We look forward to launching more services, with customers across the region.”

”At Gertek we have always been focused on delivering mobility service solutions, that benefit both passengers and transport operator clients,” said Iker Iturbe, Manager of Gertek. “This agreement with Masabi allows us to implement innovative and proven products for transport users in our region and we are convinced that the success of these projects will set a new benchmark in the market for this new ticketing sales channel”.

The Justride SDK is the first and only mobile ticketing SDK for public transit. It allows 3rd party applications to request fare types, make payments, and deliver visual and barcode mobile tickets to a passenger through a secure ticket wallet.
