Masabi to Deliver eTicketing Solution for V/Line Rail Network Across State of Victoria in Australia

V/Line will leverage open ecosystem to deliver eTicketing solution for public transport services in Victoria, Australia.

Masabi, the company delivering Fare Payments-as-a-Service through its open platform Justride, today announced that it is providing its eTicketing solution to V/Line, the statutory authority that operates regional passenger train and coach services in the Australian state of Victoria, scheduled to launch on September 18th. Masabi is enabling eTicketing for customers and providing a secure validation solution for ticket inspection. Masabi’s SaaS-based, modular technology approach leverages standard APIs and SDKs, and is the same solution used by New York’s MTA - the largest transport operator in North America. This has allowed Masabi to rapidly bring to market an eTicketing solution for V/Line across its rail and coach network which comprises more than 2,200 weekly train services throughout Victoria.

Masabi’s fare payment technology is in use by more than 200 public transport authorities and operators around the globe. Each operator benefits from over 10 years of SaaS-based product evolution and can take advantage of ABT (Account Based Ticketing), Mobile QR code ticketing, and Open Payments utilising Contactless EMV technology.

V/Line’s seamless integration of Masabi’s technology not only enhances convenience for passengers, but also gives them the option to have quick and easy access to their tickets directly from their smartphones, reducing the need for physical tickets and simplifying the boarding process. V/Line conductors will also be able to use Masabi’s Justride Inspect from within the Tally app to scan these tickets quickly and efficiently.

“This latest Masabi deployment in Australia shows the power of the Justride modular platform to rapidly deliver an eTicketing solution at the scale of a state-wide operator,” said Brian Zanghi, CEO of Masabi. “We’re delighted to be working with V/Line to provide a solution that makes taking the train in Victoria as simple as possible.”

Masabi’s fare payment platform, Justride, is built for cities and transport authorities that are looking to deploy a modular ticketing solution. The components plug and play with best-in-class solutions from other vendors using its extensive suite of APIs and SDKs. Customers can take advantage of any existing pre-integrations on the platform, making the launch of new functionalities easier and quicker. Because Justride is a SaaS platform, following the Fare Payments-as-a-Service approach, it ensures lower upfront costs, it’s quicker and less risky to launch, and regularly updates with new features and functionality.
