Yolobus and Masabi announced the launch of Yolobus mobile ticketing within Transit Connect, the regional fare payment app designed to simplify travel across the greater Sacramento area.

Yolobus is the second transit agency to adopt  Transit Connect, following Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT), marking an important milestone in the expansion of a unified, regional fare payment system. Additional agencies are also expected to join the platform in the future, further strengthening its role as a single app for regional mobility.

Through Transit Connect, Yolobus riders can now purchase and activate mobile tickets directly on their smartphone and board quickly using visual validation by drivers. Available fares include single-ride and monthly passes, as well as shared daily and monthly passes valid across both Yolobus and SacRT, making it easier for riders to travel seamlessly across agency boundaries without juggling multiple apps or tickets.

“This is a major step forward for riders who rely on Yolobus to move throughout the County and connect to the broader Sacramento region,” said Autumn Bernstein, Executive Director at Yolo Transportation District. “Transit Connect offers riders a simple, convenient way to pay for transit while supporting smoother regional travel, faster boarding, and greater flexibility, especially for commuters, students, and visitors traveling between systems.”

Yolobus provides fixed-route, express, and demand-response services throughout Yolo County, including key connections to Sacramento, Davis, Woodland, West Sacramento, and the University of California, Davis. By joining Transit Connect, Yolobus riders benefit from a more connected experience that reflects how people actually travel across the region.

“Masabi has pioneered regional transit ticketing in the US, with systems which deliver seamless travel across multiple agencies and operators. Following this model Transit Connect is built to scale , and the addition of Yolobus is a powerful demonstration of that vision,” said Brian Zanghi, CEO at Masabi. “By supporting shared passes and multi-agency travel in a single app, it makes regional transit more convenient and intuitive for riders, while giving agencies a proven platform that can grow as more systems come online.”

Transit Connect is designed around a ‘one app, one account, one balance’ philosophy, simplifying fare payment across participating agencies. As the platform continues to expand, riders will be able to move more easily across the Sacramento region without switching apps or payment methods, making public transit faster, more accessible, and more attractive for everyday and regional travel.
