Masabi’s first deployment in Italy delivers cloud-native mobile ticketing platform for bus services in the city of Potenza
Potenza, Italy and London, UK, 25 April 2023 – Bus Miccolis, the Italian bus operator serving cities across the regions of Southern Italy, has today announced that it has launched a next-generation mobile ticketing system in the city of Potenza, delivered by Municipia and powered by Masabi, the award-winning Fare Payments as a Service provider. The deployment is the first of its kind for Masabi in Italy, and the first with Municipia, part of the Engineering Group, a leader in process digitalization for companies and public administration.
The new Mobility Ticket app will enable Bus Miccolis passengers to purchase tickets anytime, anywhere, and have them available at the click of a button – increasing convenience and also speeding up the boarding process reducing bus dwell time at stops – meaning more convenient and faster journeys for passengers.
Bus Miccolis users can pre-purchase tickets for future use or purchase a ticket on the day of travel. When waiting to board the bus, riders simply activate their tickets or passes and then display their activated tickets when boarding.
“For more than 40 years the name Miccolis has been synonymous with transportation. Working on all types of bus services including state lines, urban and suburban public transport, school transport, as well as other special services including services for the disabled and bus hire with driver With more than 10,000,000 km travelled per year by a fleet of over 500 buses, we offer an essential transport service throughout Italy,” said Aurelia Miccolis, Managing Director of Miccolis SpA.“We’re delighted to be going mobile and working with Municipia and Masabi, not just to improve the service that we offer our passengers, but to create a more efficient way of connecting this beautiful country.”
