Masabi and Clients Shortlisted for Five Transport Ticketing 2019 Global Awards

Justride leads nominations at the ticketing industry’s annual “Oscars”. Masabi, the company bringing Software-as-a-Service (Saas) ticketing and payments to public transport, today announced that the company and its customers have made the shortlist in five categories at the Transport Ticketing Global Awards. The winners will be announced at the ceremony on 29th January 2019 at Landing Forty Two, London. The shortlisted entries are:

Best Smart Ticketing Programme - Masabi have provided mobile ticketing functionality, including the use of Masterpass and Apple Pay, for Colorado-based Bustang via the JustRide Bustang mTicketing app. Within the first six months of operation, penetration for mobile ticketing reached a record breaking 66%.

Most Innovative Customer Serving Operator - The ‘LurTicket’ system allows passengers in Gipuzkoa to download an app onto their smartphones which can be used to purchase tickets and display them on-screen as a dynamic and encrypted barcode, which is scanned by the driver when boarding Lurraldebus services. LurTicket is available in Spanish, Euskera, and English and makes the purchase of a ticket simple and accessible for both locals and the numerous visitors and tourists that use these bus services.

Ticketing Technology of the Year - Masabi’s Justride is no longer just about mobile ticketing, it is so much more! Justride is now enabling agencies to deliver Contactless EMV, Account Based Ticketing and enabling MaaS for operators of any size or budget. Masabi's Justride unifies account-based and pre-pay ticketing into a single configurable solution. Its SaaS architecture, ‘Mobile First‘ approach and Bring Your Own Ticket (BYOT) philosophy, allows transit providers to deliver innovation quickly, delighting passengers and reducing costs, while increasing efficiency and data insights.

Smart City 2019 - We are helping bring smarter ticketing to cities such as Orleans, Montargis, San Sebastián, St Catharines & Bilbao. The introduction of mobile ticketing integrated into 3rd party best-of-breed applications such as PlanBookTicket in France, Transit in Canada and the bespoke app built by Gertek in Spain, has helped reduce boarding times and enabled quick and seamless access to tickets for public transport.

2019 Digital Champion - Masabi Justride SDK - in partnership with Uber, Transit, Keolis, Kisio, Gertek and Jorudan. The Justride SDK is the world’s first mobile ticketing Software Development Kit (SDK) for the public transport industry. The Justride SDK allows an integrated app to request fare types and delivers tickets to a user through a secure ticket wallet. The wallet communicates with Masabi servers to understand complex fare tables and manage the ticket lifecycle and security. Operators using the SDK will also have access to the Justride Hub, from where they can access a wealth of back office data including real-time sales, usage and validation information and an extensive customer services interface.

“Masabi continues to set the pace for innovation and excellence within the transport ticketing industry,” said Brian Zanghi, CEO of Masabi. “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the industry’s most respected awards across so many categories alongside such illustrious competition. We wish all entrants good luck and look forward to attending the ceremony on January.”
